Board of Trade Lists of Staff Serving in HM Forces and Miscellaneous Documents

The Board of Trade kept detailed lists of all employees who either were mobilised at the outbreak of war, or were given permission to enlist and also those that were subsequently 'called up'.

There are surviving lists for 1914, 1915 , January and July 1916, 1917 and 1918. A separate (November 1914) list is included for the Labour Exchanges and Unemployment Insurance Dept, which, in 1914, accounted for over a third of The Board of Trade Staff.
