PAYING FOR SOLAR HOT WATER THE EASY WAY

Solar Results Purchasing (SRP) is an innovative way of paying for solar hot water that has been developed under the EU's THERMIE Programme and supported by the DTI's Sustainable Energy Programmes. The initiative, which involves partners from the UK, France and Spain, has been co-ordinated by Dulas Ltd.

House with solar collector Basically, SRP allows the user of the hot water to pay for the energy units they consume, rather than having to buy an active solar heating system up-front. It also builds-in a guarantee of good performance. As part of the project, a guide has been produced to enable interested bodies to begin developing their own SRP schemes. A summary report published by the DTI Programmes (ref. no. S/P3/00273/REP) will also be available from the Enquiries Bureau.
