Benefits for FE providers

Better designed programmes of study to meet learners’ needs

Unit-based qualifications and the more flexible Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) will enable providers to design programmes of study more suitable to the needs of learners.

Improved retention and progression rates

Smaller steps of achievement will be able to be recognised more frequently.

Better information on learners’ past achievements

Learners' achievements are tracked through the use of a unique learner number (ULN) and an individual's learner record, giving providers standard information about each learner's past achievements.

Better description of achievements to learners and employers

The Qualifications and Credit Framework will help learning providers describe achievements to employers and learners in a language that is easy to understand.

More information specifically for learning providers is available from the QCF Readiness Provider Support Programme.
