Benefits for employers

Demand-driven qualifications

Sector Skills Councils (SSCs) and Standard Setting Bodies (SSBs) represent employers in their sectors. They have used detailed labour market research to develop qualifications strategies for the  vocational qualifications needed in their sector or occupation. They are working with awarding bodies to develop vocational qualifications in accordance with these strategies.

Vocational qualifications are  approved by SSCs before accreditation onto the QCF to ensure they meet employer needs.

Easier to understand qualifications

Reformed  vocational qualifications have clear titles, showing the qualification’s level, content and size, helping employers to understand the achievements of prospective employees. Learner records will enable employers to see what learning has been completed by applicants and employees.

Flexible qualifications, responsive to employer needs

The reformed system is able to capture a wider range of achievements than the current system and introduces more flexible structures for the design of qualifications.

Recognition of employer training

Employers can have their in-house training accredited onto the QCF. See QCDA website.
