Science funding

Professor Adrian Smith

Since 1997 the science budget has risen from £1.3 billion to its current £3.7 billion. By the end of the current spending review period in 2010/11 the Science Budget will be just under £4 billion. This has enabled the Research Councils to substantially raise their support for research.

The Allocations of the Science Budget 2008/9 to 2010/11, published in December 2007, provides more detail on the areas of spend.
