Adoption and interest outside Government

DIUS’ aim is to raise awareness of the Code and its principles outside Government, with particular key audiences in education (school level and beyond), research, industry and the wider public at large

There has already been some progress, and we were always keen to hear about experiences in implementing the Code and its principles, or indeed examples of good ethical scientific principles wherever they occur. Please contact the Science and Society team with your experiences.

DIUS was particularly pleased to see that the Royal Academy of Engineering’s Statement of Ethical Principles builds on the Universal Ethical Code for Scientists and takes its tenets into the domain of engineering.
