GO-Science has developed the ‘Guidance to government departments and agencies on managing and using science’
The Guidance updates and consolidates guidance to government departments on the management and use of science, and is intended to help departments find the information they need.
Departments are expected to be familiar with and implement guidance from several documents ranging from the 2001 Government response to the Phillips Review of the BSE crisis to recent guidance such as the updated Code of Practice for Scientific Advisory Committees.

- Key decision makers can be confident that the advice derived from the analysis of the evidence also stands up to these challenges
- The public are aware, and are in turn confident, that such steps are being taken
