The following may be useful resources for Government scientists and engineers to consider their own development.
National School of Government
The National School of Government is the business school for government. It provides high quality learning and development solutions to government organisations and individuals providing public services.
Government Skills
Government Skills is the Sector Skills Council (SSC) for central government, working for employers across the sector. Its overall purpose is to improve the delivery of public services by working with employers to reduce skills gaps.
Government Skills covers all civil servants in departments and agencies (including those in the devolved administrations and the Northern Ireland Civil Service); staff in non-departmental government bodies not already affiliated to another SSC (around 60,000 staff); and the Armed Forces.
STEMNET
STEMNET strives to encourage young people to have a positive attitude to science and through its STEM ambassadors scheme, also offers the chance to professional scientists and engineers to develop their own personal communication skills and confidence. For more details please visit the STEM ambassadors section of STEMNET’s site.
The Civil Service Gateway
The Civil Service is a large public sector employer with a challenging portfolio of business priorities and agendas to deliver across government and the public. This website allows civil servants and the public to search the large range of jobs available. If you are interested in specifically science or engineering jobs please use the keyword search.
