A seminar on Age, Health and Nutrition Research was held in London on the 25th of March. The seminar was one of the initiatives from the UK Science & Innovation Network (Sweden) and joint-organisers the UK Age Research Forum / Help the Aged
About 80 people attended the seminar from various universities and organisations in the UK. The aim of the day was to bring together European and UK researchers and universities, to give an overview of European research and best practice examples as well as initiate and strengthen collaborations. Besides presentations from both UK and European scientists an overview of the European Union work in this area was provided by DG Health. The Medical Research Council also held an informative session on FP7 funding opportunities.
We will continue to focus on research into ageing as multidisciplinary research in this area is increasingly in demand, both in the UK and other countries. Many participants raised the need of more focus on this as well as the need for more collaboration between researchers and public bodies.
