The 2008 R&D Scoreboard contains data on the latest year's R&D and that for the 5 previous years both for the global top 1400 and UK 850 companies. The previous years' R&D investments for non-UK companies have been converted into pounds sterling using the exchange rates used for the 2007 Scoreboard and given in the section on "Notes on Scope, definitions and data sources" (pages 337-345 of volume 2). These are the exchange rates as of 31st December 2007. Figures from previous Scoreboards should not be compared with those given for the 2007 Scoreboard since they will have been converted to pounds sterling at the exchange rates prevailing in earlier years which will be different in almost all cases.
