Table 4 summarises the pattern of investment in R&D and other key business performance characteristics according to ownership across the UK850. It also shows the comparable statistics for the G1400 firms
The key points to note are that:
- the UK’s 88 biggest R&D investors – which also form part of the G1400 largest R&D spenders worldwide – conducted two thirds of the UK850’s R&D;
- the UK88 grew their R&D by 10% over the previous year which was similar to their global peers; and
- the proportion of foreign owned UK firms in the G1400 has remained similar with the previous Scoreboard.
