The pattern of R&D across different categories of firm in the UK

This section analyses the pattern of R&D expenditure across different categories of firms in the UK, and, where relevant, globally

It starts by summarising the recent pattern of investment in R&D and other key business performance characteristics by category of firm across the UK850 and examines changes since the previous Scorecard. It then looks at firms by the scale of their sales. It also compares listed and unlisted firms and UK-owned and foreign owned firms. The final part of the section examines the characteristics of the most R&D intensive businesses and identifies those firms in the UK850 which have increased and reduced their R&D investments by the most over the last 12 months.
