FE Communications Gateway (FECG) panel

The role of the FE Communications Gateway panel is to define and promote standards for producing good quality communications for the FE system

The FECG Panel currently reviews proposals for and drafts of new DIUS and DCSF and LSC publications that are intended primarily for providers in the FE System. It is able to challenge on the style of presentation and also on the timing of publication.

Members

Members represent colleges, independent training providers and sixth form colleges and meet towards the end of each month in London. The panel is chaired by Sally Dicketts, Principal of Oxford and Cherwell Valley College, and the members are practitioners who have direct experience of being on the receiving end of information promoted by the LSC and DIUS including principals, heads of department and governors.

Publication reviews

Publications covered include policy statements, consultation documents, guidance and good practice and letters from Ministers. Members’ comments have helped to shape some key documents and the experience so far with a range of draft material has led to the development of the Panel’s Communications Guidance. This is included in A review of the first year of the FE Communications Gateway panel(214 KB)

The panel are keen to receive comments in particular on communications to FE providers from DIUS, DCSF and LSC. For example recipients may wish to comment on how effective or helpful a specific publication was, or they may wish to point out issues to do with poor timing or duplication. Comments are invited and should be emailed:
