Initial Equality Impact Assessment

What is an equality impact assessment?

A. Government policies can sometimes have unintended consequences for certain groups and individuals. Equality impact assessments look at the likely impact, whether positive or negative, of new policy proposals on disadvantaged and under represented groups and individuals. They also consider what action should be taken to minimise negative impacts and maximise positive ones.

Can I comment on the equality impact assessment?

A. Consultation on the initial equality impact assessment ran in parallel to the main consultation.

When will you publish a full assessment?

A. We intend to gather more evidence before publishing a full assessment. At the moment we are not sure when that will be.
