Bill Dickinson
Director General of Finance and Corporate Services
Bill Dickinson, Director General of Finance and Corporate Services, joined the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills in July 2008. His role is to lead the Finance and Performance Measurement (FPM) team and act as liaison on FPM matters with Ministers, HM Treasury, National Audit Office and other external parties, oversee the Departmental governance and performance management regime, chair the DIUS Board Audit and Risk sub-committee and oversee the commercial arrangements for the Department's shared service programme.
Prior to joining DIUS Bill has worked in various roles at KPMG since 1988, including two years as the UK firm's representative on a global team working at their product development and innovation centre in the USA. As partner he led the department responsible for UK audit professional practice support, and most recently was an audit partner for the Financial Services division and Head of Audit for the UK Asset Management sector. Bill has worked with a wide portfolio of financial services companies including FTSE 100 and major US listed companies, investment trust companies, venture capital trust companies, private equity firms, securitisation special purpose vehicles, insurance companies and retail, commercial and investment banks.
He is a graduate of Durham University, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), Registered Auditor and holder of a practicing certificate.
