Careers Advice Service

The Careers Advice Service provides individuals with advice on skills, training and jobs. Visit the Careers Advice Service website or call on 0800 100 900.

For face-to-face careers advice, contact your local nextstep. You can find your nearest office on Directgov.

Training at work

You can find out more about training at work on Directgov. One way to learn while you work is by doing an Apprenticeship. There are around 180 career areas to choose from in about 80 sectors. Contact the Apprenticeships Service on 0800 015 0600 or visit the Apprenticeships website.

Higher education careers advisers

If you are a recent graduate who is now unemployed, you can contact any university's careers advice service for help. You can see a list of higher education institutions on the UCAS website.

Financial support while you are training

To find out about grants and loans (including Professional Career Development Loans) to study at college or university, plus help with childcare costs and other financial support, visit the education and learning section of Directgov.

Improving your English, maths and IT skills
