Could you please provide the following information for the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills for the last fiscal year:
- The number of payments and the total payment volume made during the course of a year, broken down by type of payment method i.e. cheque, BACS / ACH, CHAPS / WIRE;
- Please provide the number of payments within each payment type which were cross-border and the currency of each;
- The number of and total value of receipts, again by receipt category (cheque, wire, ach);
- The number of receipts that were cross-border and the currency of the receipt.
Response
DIUS was formed in June 2007 and consists of departments from both the old Department of Trade and Industry (now Business Enterprise and Regulatory Reform - BERR) and the Department for Education and Skills (now Department for Children, Schools and Families - DCSF).
DIUS currently operates two general ledgers being its predecessor systems.
BERR has included the DIUS payments and receipts data processed as part of BERR up until 31st December 2007 and will be included as part of the BERR response.
DCSF have included the DIUS payments and receipts data in their response.

Please find below a breakdown of DIUS payments and receipts from 01 January 2008 to 31 March 2008.

There are two methods of foreign currency payment utilised by DIUS - they are Swift and Draft. However, our financial system does not differentiate between the two.
