A&E and ambulance incentive scheme - April to June results
The second stage of the A&E incentive scheme and first stage of the Ambulance scheme closed at the end of June. A total of 87 trusts achieved the April to June average of 95 per cent or above required to trigger payment under the A&E scheme.
Twenty ambulance trusts achieved the required 75 per cent or above average for each of the three months.
This achievement represents the substantial improvements made in emergency access and reflects the very hard work by all staff involved.
Around 300,000 more patients were seen in under four hours in A&E in the first quarter (Q1) of 2004-2005 than in the same period last year. Management information shows 14 trusts achieved 75 per cent or above for the three months in Q1 last year compared to the 20 which achieved it under the scheme in Q1 2004-2005.
