Mental health secure services provide treatment for people with mental health disorders that mean that they are at significant risk of harming themselves or others. Many of these patients will be detained under the Mental Health Act 1983.
This is a best practice document with quality principles, specifications and high-level indicators for all medium-secure services. It also clarifies the performance framework underpinning the quality principles.
A framework for performance management describes the structure and mechanisms by which the maintenance of the Secretary of State’s Line of Sight to high security hospitals should be discharged by Strategic Health Authorities (SHAs).
