Maternity, first years of life and families

A number of initiatives bring together health, family support, childcare and education services, to ensure that all children get the best possible start in the early years of their lives.

The Neonatal Taskforce supports the NHS in identifying and delivering improvements to services for new born babies.

The Child Health Promotion Programme (CHPP): Pregnancy and the first five years of life was launched on 17 March 2008. It builds on the Children’s National Service Framework and aims to provide preventative services tailored to the individual needs of children and families, acting as a best practice guide for children’s services.
