There are more than 70 million mobile phones in use in the United Kingdom today. A number of other wireless based technologies are common in homes and workplaces and it is clear that such devices will continue to increase in number and diversity. This feature summarises the main technologies currently in use and compares them with mobile phones, in terms of the intensity of the electromagnetic fields they emit.
