Car sharing and car clubs

Car Sharing is an arrangement whereby two or more people travel bycar together, for all or part of the car trip. In general terms, carsharing can be described as either:

  • formal - an organised scheme that puts drivers and passengers together who may not otherwise have come together to share car journeys; or
  • informal -generally where family, friends and colleagues agree among themselves,on an ad hoc or regular basis, to share car journeys.

A Car Club provides its members with flexible access to the 'hire' of a vehicle. Vehicles are parked in reserved parking spaces, close to homes or workplaces and can be used, and paid for, on an hourly, daily or weekly basis.
