The Effects of Smarter Choice Programmes in the Sustainable Travel Towns
The Department for Transport has now published the final results from its ‘Sustainable Travel Towns’ programme. These towns - Darlington, Peterborough and Worcester - implemented packages of 'Smarter Choice' measures, with resulting increases in cycling, walking and bus use, and decreases in car use and traffic.
Please also see the DfT’s sustainable travel guide for local authorities, and a shorter summary of the results from the towns.
