Freight Quality Partnerships

The development of Freight Quality Partnerships (FQPs) is a key element in our Sustainable Distribution Strategy. By means of such partnerships industry and local government can work together to develop more efficient, safer and cleaner means of local goods distribution.

Examples of what FQPs can achieve include agreements on routeing, load sharing and town centre access which can help reduce congestion, emissions and the number of vehicles in and around an urban centre.

To assist with the FQP process, the Department's TransportEnergy best practice programme has produced two publications. These will help local authorities wishing to set up FQPs and provide guidance to other organisations intending to participate.

To order your free copies of GPG335 and GPCS410, contact the TransportEnergy Helpline on 0845 602 1425.

For more information about the work of the FQPs, contact the Department for Transport on 020 7944 2434 or freight@dft.gov.uk
