Adding Capacity at Heathrow Airport Equalities Impact Assessment Consultation Document

On 22 November 2007, the Government launched its consultation on ‘Adding Capacity at Heathrow airport', which sought views on ways in which Heathrow airport could be developed over the next 20 years or more. An Impact Assessment was published as part of this consultation in November 2007. As part of the Impact Assessment process, the Department conducted an Equalities Impact Assessment (EqIA) to broaden its understanding of the potential impacts of Heathrow’s development on individuals living within the 57dBA Leq noise contour, in terms of race, gender, disability, age and social deprivation. The Department carried out a consultation on the EqIA and this consultation closed on the 9 November 2008.

Adding capacity at Heathrow Airport - Equalities Impact Assesment consultation document (411 kb)

This consultation document summarises the Department's approach to conducting an EqIA on the proposals outlined in the 'Adding Capacity at Heathrow Airport' consultation. The assessment report, conducted by Scott Wilson, an independent consultancy, can be found at Annex 3 of this document. It records their views and preliminary assessments on the evidence currently available. The consultation document also provides a list of questions on which views are now being sought.
