White Paper...

A world that works

The UN and other international organisations such as the World Bank and EU help us deal with international problems.

Most of these organisations were set up after World War Two. But the world has changed. We need an international system that can manage the challenges of the future.

We will:

  • help create a better UN…
    to lead the fight against poverty, stop wars, protect human rights and respond better to disasters;
  • work closely with the EU…
    so that the biggest economy in the world, which gives the most aid, can make a real difference;
  • support regional organisations…
    such as the African Union and the Asian Development Bank to create regional markets, improve infrastructure and deal with regional problems;
  • encourage the World Bank and International Monetary Fund…
    to respond better to the needs of poor countries;
  • and help poor countries…
    to have a bigger say in international decisions that affect them.
