8 Good Reasons: This project aims to raise awareness of the Millennium Development Goals and poverty reduction agenda in schools and the wider community in Northern Ireland. This will be achieved by building the capacity and confidence of teachers in 20 schools through accredited training. Theatre will be used to highlight issues of social justice and global equality and to raise awareness in the wider community.

SEAL and the Global Dimension - Values for Global Thinking: This project will embed consideration of the Global Dimension within the Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning (SEAL) programme in Yorkshire and Humberside. SEAL is being rolled out to 2,500 primary and secondary schools. Activities will include developing appropriate materials, story writing, gathering good case studies from across the region, filming critical enquiry among pupils and providing training and dissemination of learning.

French, Mali and Tourism - using French within the KS2 Framework for Languages to explore whether tourism could lift people out of poverty in Mali, West Africa: The project aims to work with Key Stage 2 Modern Foreign Language teachers. Advanced skills teachers and local education authorities will develop a training package focusing on Mali and the role of tourism in relation to poverty reduction and the achievement of the MDGs. It will link to studies in Geography and Citizenship. The training wil be delivered in Devon, Plymouth and Torbay in year two and rolled out nationally in year three.

Whole School Global Citizenship: The project aims to improve the capacity of Hampshire schools to respond to the challenges of global citizenship. It will develop and deliver a sustainable whole school staff training programme in global citizenship aimed at primary and secondary schools throughout Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. 21 schools and 420 teachers/support staff will participate.

Youth for Fair Trade: This project aims to enable young people (aged 16-25) to become advocates for fairly traded products. Supported by the Coventry Fairtrade Steering Group, the project will train 180 youth advocates who will then go on to lead outreach projects in partnership with schools, colleges and civil society groups. Approaches used will include three 'Unity Cup' football tournaments, an international youth conference, toolkit/manuals and a dedicated electronic youth network website designed by the youth advocates.

Making the Most of the New Curriculum: This project will deliver training and support programmes across seven regions of England. It will develop knowledge and expertise for development awareness-raising among lead professionals, development educators and non-government organisations. These educators will then support 300 secondary schools to embed the global dimension into the teaching of the new curriculum, particularly in 'hard to reach' schools.

Global Citizen Leadership Programme: This is a youth-led, peer education project to build the capacity of 180 young leaders aged 12-17 to mobilise their peers in Edinburgh to respond to issues of global poverty. Each year 60 Global Citizen Leaders will be trained and then engage in activities including global action days, case study discussions facilitated by Mercy Corps and delivering Global Action Projects benefiting youth in developing countries.

Approaches for Global Education and Development Awareness in S.E.N. schools: This project will enhance global education teaching in special educational needs schools in Nottinghamshire catering for people with mild to severe learning difficulties and those with emotional and behavioural difficulties. The project will establish a learning community of special needs practitioners at 10 special schools.

Women Reaching Women: This project aims to challenge perceptions of global interconnectedness held by Women's Institute members and communities across England and Wales. This will be achieved through educational training days and a toolkit focussing on women (in partnership with Oxfam). Educational workshops will be run with learning cascading down through the network. The project aims to directly reach 205,000 WI members.

Developing New Audiences (DNA): This project will work in areas of West Norfolk that are experiencing a rapid increase in the population of 'New Communities' including refugees and asylum seekers, BME groups and migrant workers.This project will work with shools and a range of local stakeholders using the local context as a starting point from which the global dimension and a wider understanding of international issues can be developed.

Exploring Ubuntu - One World Week Across Faiths: This England-wide project aims to broaden the scope of One World Week's traditional development education work with church communities to other faiths, initially focussing on Muslim communities, and black and minority ethnic groups. This will be achieved through greater collaboration, training and organisation of faith-community or inter-faith events.

This will be achieved through workplace based development awareness training, placing development on the bargaining agenda with employers and establishing a network of development champions.

Building a Sustainable Framework of ESDGC (Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship) Support Teachers: A project to build a sustainable peer support structure to enable schools in NW Wales to fully embed ESDGC. It enables experienced teachers in ESDGC to mentor and support other schools, to provide training for Welsh Baccalaureate teachers and to produce a DVD showcasing good practice.

Promoting International Development in Local Government: This project brings together the collective capacity of key local authority bodies to boost Local Authority engagement in international development. It will do this by educating councils about global poverty issues and strengthening their capacity to take action. The project will identify ten champion councils and establish communication networks for sharing case studies and good practice, and produce a guide for councils across the UK.

ETHCO Your future: an ethical Scotland in a global economy: This project aims to embed global issues in the enterprise, financial education and citizenship curriculum in Scotland. An Ethco school course with lessons and teachers notes will be developed. After piloting in schools the project will work with local education authorities and other organisations to create a community of teachers who can deliver Ethco enterprise materials. It will build knowledge, skills and attitudes for active campaigning and increased awareness of ethical issues in business across Scotland's 32 local authority areas.

Growing Global: This project will actively explore notions of interdependence in schools in four Peak District counties through storytelling activities as part of an innovative theatre-in-education programme. Pupils will explore notions of identity, interdependence and equality as individuals and members of global society with a focus on West Africa. Through an interractive website children in both Ghana and the UK will be able to share their own stories.
