Occupied Palestinian Territories

DFID has been supporting the Palestinian people for over 15 years. DFID’s aid to the Palestinians is part of a wider international objective to create a viable and independent Palestinian state so that Palestinians can live in peace alongside Israel. Our aid has been helping the Palestinians prepare for statehood and the economy grow stronger so that a future Palestinian state can be economically viable. We are helping:

  • The Palestinian Authority deliver public services like health and education
  • The Palestinian economy grow stronger by providing grants to Palestinian companies reach new markets.
  • The Palestinian security forces make the streets safer for ordinary Palestinians.

Barriers to trade in the Occupied Palestinian Territories: A farmer's tale

For Palestinians living in the West Bank and Gaza, checkpoints and roadblocks are a way of life. Although the physical distances involved may be small, the movement of people and goods within these territories is often slow and expensive.
