Imfundo research programme in South Africa

Imfundo is the team within DFID, which creates partnerships to deliver ICT-based activities supporting gender equality and universal primary education in sub-Saharan Africa.

Imfundo's main involvement in South Africa is to coordinate the Knowledge and Information components of DFIDSA's Education Sector Support Programme in the Limpopo Province (KHANYISA). Imfundo and partners aim to support the implementation of the following elements of the LDoE Strategic Plan:

  • The LDoE Information & Communication strategy, starting with the EMIS plan
  • The development of the Multi-Purpose Community Centre as centres of CPD and Community Learning & Outreach Centres
  • Enhancing the ICT school facility programme developed in the DFID supported MASTEC Schools project
  • ABET/FET skills development programme, in particular IT skills and Technical/Functional Literacy.
