A Strategic Grant Agreement (SGA) has been agreed between Connections for Development and DFID. This document aims to set out the areas of mutual concern and co-operation between those within UK Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) civil society who have an interest in international development, and DFID. The agreement stipulates the amount of funding to be provided to a core group, "Connections for Development (CfD)", consisting of BME civil society representatives, to help achieve clear and specific outcomes through wider engagement.

The outcomes of the SGA are as follows:

  • CfD will bring together diverse segments of UK BME Civil Society, provide leadership, enable debate, shared learning, and collaboration for action around international development issues and activities.
  • CfD will facilitate engagement with DFID and other key international development players, in order to help them proactively act on international development issues (including the MDGs) throughout UK BME civil society via the networks mentioned above.
  • CfD will have the capacity to support and facilitate activities aimed at strengthening UK BME civil society's ability to engage in international development.
  • CfD will facilitate engagement of the BME sector into different policy areas of international development across the UK.
