Press Release
On 30 April the Government of Iraq’s National Investment Commission, with the support of the UK Department for International Development, is hosting a high profile international conference in London to promote investment in Iraq. “Invest Iraq, London 2009” will feature a high level delegation of Iraqi ministers and senior officials led by Prime Minister Maliki.
The event will feature over 100 of the top UK and international companies, and will act as a key forum to promote investment and trade in Iraq. It will provide information about the key sectors for foreign direct investment, and will provide the prospect of one-to-one discussions with key Iraqi stakeholders to discuss specific investment opportunities. It will also seek to generate partnerships between UK, international and Iraqi businesses.
“Invest Iraq, London 2009” will highlight the recent positive changes in Iraq, including improvements in security, that have opened the prospect of doing business. With a market of 28 million people, considerable wealth, abundant natural resources and decades of under-investment, Iraq provides significant potential for international trade and investment.
The Department for International Development, together with other British Government ministries, is assisting the Government of Iraq to hold this event – the first such event in the UK since the 1990’s. Further details are available on the conference website. Additional information will be released in the near future.
