Results of Civil Society Challenge Fund 2010 Competition

08 February 2010

DFID is pleased to announce the results of the 2010 Civil Society Challenge Fund (CSCF) Competition.

As with previous rounds, competition was intense and demand on the fund far outweighed the funding available. DFID’s Civil Society Department considered 142 applications from 110 different civil society organisations and agreed funding for 32 new projects. With the new projects, the CSCF will have a portfolio of 134 projects from April 2010.

The following applications were successful, subject to negotiation of financial and other arrangements and the usual DFID approval procedures: Click here to see the list of funded projects.

Applicants have been informed of the results of their applications. Unsuccessful applicants have received comprehensive feedback on their proposals. The Fund Manager for the CSCF will now be in touch with the successful applicants to negotiate the financial and other arrangements.

DFID thanks all those who submitted applications.

Civil Society Challenge Fund

The CSCF is DFID’s main central channel of support for UK-based CSO projects overseas. It is an annual competitive fund which can provide up to £500,000 for five years for projects which give poor people voice in decisions which affect their lives, develop innovative service delivery methods, or deliver services in difficult environments. It also has an important role in helping build awareness of development in the UK.

The CSCF will open for submission of Concept Notes for projects starting in April 2011 on 1 April 2010.  Detailed information on the fund including application guidelines will be published online.
