Douglas Alexander, Secretary of State for International Development, and Ed Miliband, Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, have just visited Bangladesh and India for climate talks and to see at first hand the effects of climate change which are being felt by people living in the developing world.

Here Douglas Alexander reports from Bangladesh on the effects of climate change on some of the world's most vulnerable people. During a visit to the Chars region of the Jaumna delta, he explains why getting a fair but ambitious deal on tackling climate change at the Copenhagen conference in December 2009 is crucial in the fight against global poverty.
