How to apply

What you will need to apply for an Action Grant

Important: Please note that the information below is currently for information purposes only and is subject to change pending the outcome of the current DFID review of using aid funds in the UK to promote awareness of global poverty. For more information about the review click here.

In order to apply, you will need to:

 

  1. Register your Link online with Global Community Links. When you have registered your Link, you will be emailed a login and password - please keep these details safe. You will need to login to your Link Profile to apply for an Action Grant.

    Please note: If you have previously completed the Baseline Survey or applied for a grant, you will have a Link Profile. Your login details will have been emailed to you in early October 2010.
  2. Login to your link profile and complete your Action Grant application online.
    Please refer to the Grant Guidance notes when completing your application.
  3. Provide a letter on headed paper from a third party who can confirm the main purpose of your community group.
  4. Be in an established link with a community group in an eligible developing country.
  5. Have, or be working towards a formal agreement between the two community groups.
  6. Submit a copy of whatever documentation you have which could be described as your organisation’s constitution. This should show that you have structures to receive and be accountable for funds and resources. You will need to show who is responsible for managing finances and who is responsible for making decisions in your community group. The constitution must be signed by three members of your community group. 
  7. Have a UK based bank account in the name of the UK community group that requires two signatories.  (The funding is for UK based projects to raise awareness for your link.) 
  8. Demonstrate that your community group in the UK and the link group overseas have both contributed to the application form and to planning the activities. This will require a letter of support from your link group that makes specific reference to the application and the activities you are planning.
  9. Demonstrate how the activity you are planning involves other people in your wider community.
  10. Commit to measuring the impact the planned activities have in your wider community.
  11. Submit a copy of your organisation’s most recent annual audited or approved accounts.  
  12. Submit a budget showing how you intend to spend the grant requested, in the format provided.

Please do not apply again if you have an application pending.

When to apply for Global Community Link grants

There are several grant application deadlines over the course of the programme (spring 2010 – summer 2012):
