DFID has announced that it is reviewing its funding of its work to build greater awareness in the UK of development challenges in poorer countries. The review will include Global Community Links, and while this review is ongoing Global Community Links grant rounds will be put on hold, and no new grants will be awarded.
Inspiration Activation workshops directly support grant application and will therefore not be delivered during this period. However we will continue to offer a range of learning activities and resources during the review period, so do keep up-to-date with information on these web pages.
Important: Please note that the information below is currently for information purposes only and is subject to change pending the outcome of the current DFID review of using aid funds in the UK to promote awareness of global poverty. For more information about the review click here.
Would you like to meet like-minded people and share your experiences of linking, your successes and challenges? Would you like some new ideas about how you can involve your wider community, help people learn more about your link and the global issues that affect your partners overseas?
Inspiration activation workshops are the first part of your journey with the Global Community Links programme. They are a great opportunity to network, develop ideas about how you can increase the impact of your link both in the UK and overseas. They also provide advice on how to apply for an action grant and how to make the best use of your grant.
Inspiration activation workshops will give you an opportunity to:-• share your experiences of linking and learn from others• think about how you'd like to develop your link to have even more impact in your UK community and your partner community• learn more about global issues that affect countries around the world and how your link can contribute to international development • develop creative activity ideas that you can take back to your link and to get people involved• find out how to complete a grant application and successfully apply for an action grant for your activities from between £2,000 to £10,000
We strongly recommend you attend an inspiration activation workshop if applying for an action grant. They're held in a number of locations across the UK over the year and you're advised to sign up early as there are limited places. Workshops will run over a full day to help you get the most from the opportunity.
