  • Read The Rough Guide to a Better World. This book explains some of the reasons for poverty in developing countries and also offers suggestions for how individuals can help. The Rough Guide to a Better World is available FREE by calling the DFID Public Enquiry Point (0845 300 4100), it can also be downloaded from www.roughguidebetterworld.com.
  • Read Developments. This is a FREE quarterly magazine produced by the Department for International Development about development issues. www.developments.org.uk
  • Visit the websites listed in Contact Points. Many of them give information about projects and programmes carried out around the world and also offer different ways to get involved in the fight against global poverty.
