Contracts Branch maintains a <a href="http://www.dfid.gov.uk/Contracts/database.htm">Consultants Database</a> of those who may be suitable for work in development activities or interventions. Information from the database is passed onto the Department's professional advisers when recruitment opportunities arise. DFID's Procurement Policy Unit offers advice on procurement for international development activity.</p> <p>The 1997 White Paper on International Development committed the UK Government to make available information about trade and investment opportunities in developing countries.
