Remembrance Day
1. What do we remember?
Required Resources
- Slides 1-7
Delivery
- Display Slides 1-5 which contain pictures of items which encourage remembrance and ask students what they encourage people to remember.
- The images help us remember:
- The anniversary of our birth
- The anniversary of a death
- The date of Jesus Christ's birth
- Diwali (the image shows a Kandilis which is hung outside Hindu households during Diwali - the festival of light)
- Present Slide 6 and ask students how they can remember the World War One (WW1) generation which has passed. Slide 7 presents an array of imagery that suggests how memories can be kept alive.
- Explain the pertinence of poppies to remembrance (this is outlined in the Background to MOD topic).
