Episode 2. Pros and cons

Required Resources

  • Student Worksheets 1-2

Delivery

  • Divide students into pairs and ask them to compile a list detailing the pro's and cons of designing and manufacturing objects by computer.
  • Distribute copies of Student Worksheet 1 which has images of several different products to provide stimulus. Ask students to identify whether they think they are produced by hand or CAD. Discuss and debate the students' decisions as a class.
  • Students fill in the table on Student Worksheet 2. This asks students to consider connections between the pros and cons of CAD and the product being manufactured.
  • Discuss findings as a class.
