Episode 1. Starter: The benefits of using a computer

Required Resources

  • Access to computers
  • Pen, pencils and compasses

Delivery

  • Split the students into three groups and ask each to draw a perfect circle. One group attempts it by hand; one uses paint on the computer and the other draws it using a pair of compasses.
  • Examine the difference between the three groups' circles.
  • Students consider the difference between products designed and manufactured by a computer and those designed and manufactured by hand or with limited mechanical assistance.
