Delivery
- The images on Slide 11 feature lifestyle choices and environmental factors that can have a positive or negative impact on our respiratory fitness and our ability to absorb and exchange gases.
- Ask students to identify those activities which have a positive effect and those that have a negative effect on respiratory fitness and to explain why.
- Slide 12 features further images, to be reviewed in the same way by the class. Students should identify the extreme conditions under which Service Personnel must work and the necessity of respiratory fitness if they are to work effectively and safely.
- Complete the lesson by encouraging students to remain aware of their own respiratory fitness during the next week, during different levels and types of activity, and to consider whether it is adequate.
