3. Why writing to argue?

Required Resources

  • Slides 7-8

Delivery

  • With a broad set of emotions and ideas, pupils should now consider the purpose of writing to argue and consider the tools available to them to achieve that purpose.
  • As a class, brainstorm the purpose of writing to argue. Write these thoughts on the board. This activity would work well as a mind-map.
  • Next invite students to work in pairs to identify writing to argue techniques.
  • Discuss findings as a class and display Slides 7-8 for a full list.
