Medical history (WW1)
The Army Medical Services' role throughout history
Synopsis
This lesson looks at the development of important medical discoveries such as vaccination and pasteurisation. It introduces students to the British Army's contribution to the discovery and prevention of diseases such as malaria and brucellosis. It also explains the difficult but important role of the Royal Army Medical Corps (RAMC) and demonstrates how the First World War played an important part in stimulating the discovery of penicillin.
