Life in the trenches
3: Meet the experts
Required Resources
- Slides 10-13
Delivery
- Ask each student to feedback to the rest of the group on there area of research for three minutes. They should attempt to relay as much of the information which they have gathered from the Student Worksheets as possible from memory before referring to their notes.
- Students should make notes on the information which the other members of their groups present.
- Once each group has presented their findings to the class display Slides 10-13 which contain a poem about trench life by Robert Service. Ask students to read it out and to reflect on whether it corroborates the picture of trench life which they built up through their research in Episode 2.
Differentiation
Lower Ability:
Lower ability students may require more support to ensure that they can take notes on all five of the different aspects presented to them.
Higher Ability:
Ask students from two different groups to form a pair and interview each other on their respective area of expertise on the trenches.
