2: Gathering Information
Required Resources
- Student Worksheets 1-5
Delivery
- Divide the students into groups of five and assign each member of the group one of the following aspects of trench life to research:
- Conditions
- Health
- Trench routine
- Spare time
- Communications with home
- Distribute the Student Worksheets to the groups. Each worksheet corresponds to one of the aspects of trench life being investigated by the groups.
- Ask students to take notes from the Students Worksheet about their allocated aspect of trench life. The 'expertise' which students gain in this episode will be used in each of the following episodes.
Differentiation
Lower Ability:
Lower ability students can be allowed more time to process the information and take notes.
Higher Ability:
Higher ability students could be asked to study two aspects of trench life.
