Product development

3. Camouflage evolution

Required Resources

  • Slides 5-47
  • Student Worksheet 1-2
  • Video: Camouflage during the World Wars

Delivery

  • Split the class into groups of two or three students and distribute one copy of Student Worksheets 2a-2b to each group. Allow each group time to read Student Worksheet 1 which explains the exercise.
  • Using the various resources, students are required to identify changes in the design of camouflage uniforms clothing and reasons that have influenced the development. If you can provide students with ICT access it will enable them to view the resources in their own time. However, if this is not possible the Slides and Video can be viewed as a class. Ensure you allow students time to discuss their notes and to populate Student Worksheet 1. Students should each receive a copy of Student Worksheet 2a-2b so they can read the information sheet.
  • As a class, discuss their observations and the question at the end of the Worksheet:
  • Can you make any recommendations for improving camouflage clothing in the future?
  • The answers to the Spot the Soldier slides can be found on Slides 32-47.

Differentiation
