- Slide 11
Delivery
- Play a video using the following link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbldMCfjwq4&feature=related. This is a contentious interview between Mrs Merton and Bernard Manning. Bernard Manning expresses racist views and you should watch this in advance of the class to ensure you are happy with the content and to prepare for any contentious or emotional responses from your students.
- If you choose not to play the video, project Slide 11 to present the statement 'No Blacks or Asians fought for us in the First or Second World Wars.'
- Ask students whether they agree or disagree with this statement or the comments made by Bernard Manning. Students should justify their opinions.
Differentiation
Lower Ability:
A class vote, with a raise of hands could be taken instead to identify whether students agree or disagree with the statement.
