- 5. Peer assessment
Writing to argue
5. Peer assessment
Required Resources
- Mark scheme
Delivery
- Explain the marking focus and highlight that examiners are looking to see if the finished pieces are technically accurate (spelling, punctuation and grammar), clearly structured and use a range of convincing details and techniques to create an effect on the reader. This should help focus the students for their peer marking.
- Use the mark scheme to assist and instruct students to swap their work. They should grade their partner's work and provide three targets to help their partner improve their writing.
Differentiation
Lower Ability:
Mixed ability peer assessment. Lower ability students could identify one example that met the marking criteria well and two examples for development, suggesting how they could be improved.
