5. Plenary: Commonwealth Games

- Video: Commonwealth Environment Promotional Video
Delivery
- Show students Video: Commonwealth Environment Promotional Video and/or the following video mhich must be viewed online: http://tinyurl.com/5kt93k (copy and paste url)
- Ask students why they think the Commonwealth invests in such global events. Get them to think back to the start of the lesson where the underlying principles of the Commonwealth were discussed. Note their ideas on the whiteboard.
- Show Slides 23- 24 which outline both events.
- Ask students to imagine they are a Head of Government at a CHOGM and the topic for discussion is 'strengthening country relationships through global events.' Ask students to respond to this topic and think of other activities/events that the Commonwealth could invest in to further cultivate their objectives.
- Note: Alternatively, if you find yourself short of time, the class vote and a short summary discussion can be carried out in the Plenary to conclude the lesson.
