Required Resources

  • Slide 8-18
  • Video: The Commonwealth Animated Tour

Delivery

  • Show Slide 8-9 which introduces the Commonwealth and outlines what it aims to achieve.
  • Play Video: The Commonwealth Animated Tour. This is an animated tour of the Commonwealth.
  • Use Slides 10-16, 'The Commonwealth Family' and pick some student volunteers. The Slides display 7 countries; get each volunteer to work out where that country is located on the world map. Slide 17 shows all the Commonwealth member countries and helps emphasise that whether the country is large or small, rich or poor, developed or developing they all have an equal voice in the Commonwealth and they all form an important part of the Commonwealth family. All countries have an equal vote at CHOGMs.
  • Use Slide 18 to briefly outline the history of the Commonwealth, where it started and how it has evolved over time.
